Problems with Polycom 301

Hi, I just got a 2 Quadro2x and 2 Polycoms 301 and I can not make the Quadro to register the IP phone, I found this on the sip_reg.log file

why is the Quadro answering with a 404??


It seems like I followed everything by the book...


I'm registering the Polycom like this...


YYYYXXXX@sip.epygi.com:5060Auth User Id and passwordare the same on the Line Settings (Telephony/Line Settings/IP Line 1); Server 1 is the Quadro's IP 5060 port, what am I missing?


Please help, I'm helping a friend with this and I need to travel back tomorrow, and wouldn't like to finish the cfg remotely.

Hi, it seems you understand a little bit otherwise the instruction of book. The account using on extension (YYYYXXXX@sip.epygi.com:5060 (YYYYXXXX@sip.epygi.com:5060))is for using on external SIP servers like sip.epygi.com. For using an IP phone as IP Extension on Quadro IPBX you need to register phone to the Quadro and not to the external SIP server. You can do this by 2 way eitherin auto-configuration modeormanually. Let consider auto-configuration mode.


1.In "Telephony->Line Setting->IP Line Setting" click on "IP Line1" linkin the table. In a new page activate"SIP Phone" option. From "Phone Model" combobox choose "Polycom" and input "MAC Address" of the phone (on the label in the back side of phone). check that "Line Appearance" is setat least 2. Set new (internal) "username/password" something like username "local31" and psw "3131". Don't use extenal username 77407931 ! Press the "Save" button.
To complete the automatic configuration on Polycom SoundPoint, reset the phone to factory default settings and change the server type from FTP, the default server type, to Trivial FTP.
To perform a factory reset, follow these steps:


1. Simultaneously press the 4, 6, 8, and * keys and hold them down for several seconds until the password prompt appears. The phone requires the administrator password (the default is 456) to initiate the reset.




2. Enter the password and press the Enter soft key.





To change the server type, follow these steps:


1. During the auto-boot countdown, press the Setup soft key to access the main menu/Network Configuration menu. Note that this is done after imitating the reset, as soon as the Welcome screen appears on the phone LCD. This menu is locked by default. To unlock the menu, enter the administrator password, which has been reset to the default 456, and press OK.




2. Use the up or down arrows to scroll to the Server menu and press the Select soft key.




3. Scroll down to Server Type, and press Edit.




4. Use the down arrow to set the Server Type to Trivial FTP and press OK.




5. Press Exit twice to exit the Server menu and Network Configuration menu.




6. When asked for the Exit option, press Save&amp;Reboot.





Wait until the phone reboots downloading configuration files from the Quadro.

Thank you for the information; I've done a couple of times by now and not seems to work; on the Admin Guide says that after you do that you need to go to the polycom and register the phone here's my cfg

Maybe this is where I'm doing something wrong; the manual says to set as Address the SIP Address, and XX@sip.epygi.com:5060 is what I got, the Auth User Id and Password I'm setting the same one that you mentioned...


Regarding the connection and the phone downloading the codes and cfg from the Quadro I found this..

Seems you want to register your Polycom as standalone phone on exernal SIP (sip.epygi.com). Go on. :)Polycom will not work as IP Extension. Read "Auto Configuration of Quadro LAN IP Phones-E3-MedRes.pdf" document or refer to Technical Support Center.
