Hi there,

Someone can explain to methe difference of having 2 Quadros connected each other via a SIP Trunk and having the 2 Quadros connectedvia a regular SIP connection (an entry created in the rounting table)?

Even before the introduction of SIP Trunking on Quadro it was possible to have 2 different Quadroslogically linked via SIP over the WAN. Whatimprovements the SIP Trunking canadd to this scenario?

Regards

The difference is the following. When you use Routing Rules to create a logical links between 2 Quadros, then you must specify the IP-Adresses (SIP port)of both Quadros in the rules. This is pretty fine when your Quadros have static IPs (SIP ports).

In case of using SIP Trunk/Tunneling there is a Server/Client mechanism implemented. You must sepcifyServer IP(SIP port) on the Client Quadro(s) only. In case if that parameters will be changed during operation, no additional configuration will be needed.

It worth mentioning two main distinguishing features regarding SIP tunneling (to avoid confusion SIP trunking is renamed to tunneling in the latest releases):
-the slave device is registering on the master device and thus its IP address can be dynamic and behind the NAT and the master can always find it.
-with symmetric NAT enabled on the master device, the calls will work even if the slave device is located behind the symmetric NAT
