View Full Version : trunk seizure prefixes

I have no trouble configuring numeric trunk seizure prefixes (e.g. dial 9 and then the number to go out via some account, dial 8 and the number to dial via another account).
However, since I'm not using any outside line prefix for normal dialing, that approach blows up my call routing rules since they need to be specific enough to allow to differentiate between trunk seizure prefixes and regular numbers (e.g. here in Switzerland emergency numbers start with a 1.. so you'd need a rule for those, and a rule for selecting trunk "1" and those numbers, and trunk 1 and regular numbers (which all start with a 0)).

Thus, I've been using # + digit or ** + digit in my previous system to select a specific trunk (when they started encoding #, # stopped working, so I switched to ** making sure I don't have any overlaps with the already defined ** codes available on the system, e.g. for codec selection).

So when I was in training, we tried to replicate this, but without success. It seems # cannot even be entered, and ** + one digit has no effect.

Is there any way to get this done or am I stuck with the more complex call routing? Using some special code is also easier to teach people imho.. when they dial a star or a hash, they know they're using a special feature, and it's not so apparent when you restrict yourself to digits.

In the call routing prefix field you can't use # symbol or when prefix starting with * will conflict with service codes feature. But
you can specify any other digits to call using specific port, for example you can create routing rule with prefix 0*1* (to diale 0+*+1+number), NDS: 2 call type ISDN and trunk 0.
On another rule specify 0*2* to call using trunk 1.
For emergency calls use prefix like 1?? (this means 1+any two symbols) and selecting appropriate trunk for that calls.
Please note: To use "*" symbol not as wildcard on prefix field you must type "*".Edited by: artak

We actually tried

**x (I hope I recall the syntax.. I haven't had time to fully setup everything), and *x, that worked.

I'm reluctant to use 0.. 0 is the countrywide prefix for any PSTN calls.. they all start with 0 and then 2-8, unlike international calls which all must start with a double zero.

Shouldn't codes starting with * be allowed when they do not conflict with any existing feature activation codes?

In the routing rule you can add a pattern starting with *, but you can't use it becouse when dialing *+number from the phone, quadro interpretes that number as service code and if there is no service code dialed, you can hear a beep.
You can use other digit than 0 to call to PSTN.
