Hello Users,

does anybody know, how exacty the Priorization on a Quadro2x/4x/16x works?
What I know is, that packets get marked in the TOS-Field dependend to the Setting in the Extension 'RTP level' [low|medium|high]. So far, so good, packets we be marked with DIFFSERV and the following Router can do Priority-stuff with that.
BUT: I'm using the Quadro as router and so, the Quadro itself should do shaping between 'normal' packets and Voice-packets on outgoing packets. So, if the WAN-Link is full, the packets with DIFFSERV are should be preffered.
Is that so? Can anybody tell me something about Prio.?

Hello Heiko,

the Quadro does not use DIFFSERV or TOS to prioritize the voice traffic passing through it. Instead it prioritizes the traffic coming from the IP Phones configured as PBX extensions.

So if you are using a standalone SIP behind the Quadro (which is not a recommended setup at all), the traffic from this phone will have the same priority as traffic from any PC.

At the same time the traffic from SIP phones configured as Quadros extensions, will have the highest priority. The rest traffic will be shaped accordingly, and can be even denied, if the bandwidth is completely used by calls, or the device is under load. The machanism used there is proprietary.

Best regards,

David
