Hi,
I have a 16x and an e1/t1 set up and running fine.
Is anyone here doing any call recording? Can it be supported through the hardware? Another device required ?
Or should I be looking at software on the softphone users end?
All help is greatly appreciated.

This is the response of the Epygi Europe.
"Voice recording will not be supported until the new PBX model comes out at the end of 2007."

But I think that It was not true, because I have had a technician from 'Arménie' this afternoon who say me to open a ticket.
I don't open this ticket, because my provider and my phone Snom (for this version) can't do 'voice recorder'.
But if you do that, give me your feedback
(And sorry for my english)

The response from Epygi Europe is very close to the truth. A ticket will not help here, as this feature is not implemented yet, so tech support cannot do anything here.
Recording has to be done now using some external means.

Will this feature be implemented on the current range of PBXs via a
firmware update or will it only be available on a future range of PBX
products?
Many Thanks,
Nick

Most probably, call recording will not be available on current range of PBX. It will be implemented on the new, more powerfullHW platform targeted to bigger installations with more extensions and lines.

Will this be available through the 3PCC?

Is there any update to call recording - sending stream or files to external file server?
Asterisks provide call recording and table of list of recorded calls - can we have something similar?
Thanks

Well, the only update I can give - we are planning that for the 5.1.x release (most probably on the 32x only, but this is not fixed yet). About the timeframe... I am not sure. Most probably something about 4-5 months.

Can you share with us some of future functionality - in a frame? Is it going to be as key or build in? Does it requires a special NAS server or any file system.
We need it as part of a quote we compile and customer is questioning about this feature.
They also need it to be connected to the CRM system.
Thanks

Aylon: call recording is for 5.1 release in Q4 2008. It is going to be enabled by feature key (probably but not finally decided yet). The external server is optional, the internal CF card can be used as well.
The connection with CRM is not considered, it is out of scope of recording.

Any idea whether the call recordings will be accessible or controllable through 3PCC? Will it be possible to "link" the recording to an actual call i.e. from a CDR-type log will it be possible to reference the recording (if any) made.
Or will this be a "record every call/no calls" type feature (per xtn?)
Some ideas for possible functionality:
1. Use 3PCC to setup a call and direct that a recording be made
2. Use a predial or feature code to direct that the next outbound call be recorded (or use 3PCC to detect the outbound call and dynamically decide whether to record it or not based on the call parameters)
3. When the CDR of the call is logged, be able to see that a recording was made and be able to access a link of some kind to the voice file (or "download" the voice file somehow)
4. Use a feature code to direct that the last inbound call recording be deleted (for personal/sensitive calls) - if all inbound call are recorded by default
Some of these might seem a bit obscure but this functionality is necessary to be able to handle calls and recordings outside the Epygi environment via 3PCC.
I think this would begin to address the CRM integration issues raised elsewhere. I believe you need to be able to suck the CDR *and* recordings out of the Epygi system altogether - though some basic call recording management would probably still be required inside the Epygi as well for non-technical/development oriented customers.
And JLoeken (sp?) will be over the moon ;o)

What this means is that there will be a new Epygi package that will provide a Professional Recording solution for companies that require the facility to easily record conversations, organise those recordings into an easy format, time, date, extension, usual criteria in the near future.
You can however, use recordings with the Epygi 4.x.x / 5.x.x firmware on other Epygi systems to wet the taste buds of your recording facility it is just a basic record feature.

Kevin

@teamnet: the only thing I can tell you now, is that call recording will be made controllable via 3pcc (at least at some stage). Thank you for the suggestions, we will consider them when being closer to the implementation.
@Kevin: yep, it means something like that :)
