Hi Guys,
First time using the forums so if I’m posting in the wrong spot then please let me know.
I’ve got the call recording function install and operational on our Quadro4x, using the default G.729a codec.
My problem is how I replay these wav files on my computer as I don’t have a relevant codec to decode them. Does anyone know where I can lay my hands on a codec please?
If I should be using another codec for recording that would make my life easier then I’m also happy to switch to another that’s in the list?
Cheers,
Greg.

Hi Greg,
You are not free to select the codec for call recording. The call recording function use G.711u always.
Thanks
Ashot

Hi there Greg,
Welcome to the Epygi Quadro Forums...
The codec that the Quadro defaults to is a licenced codec, and there fore your PC usually does not come with that codec installed natively. Now the best alternative is to use as ahsot has pointed out a G711 codec, in my opinion use G711 aLaw as it is also used for ISDN,and other common call types.
You will need to look at getting a 4/8/16 gig usb flash drive - I use Sandisk and basically wipe the drive before inserting it into the Quadro out of habit. I wouldnt recommend any higher drive than that at all.
The above will give you ample room for recordings and also for private voicemail / auto attendant messages etc...
Just allocate enough percentage of memory space for the recording extension. Look on the memory status page to give you an idea of how much is needed.
There are other real nice applications that work really well with the Quadro, such as FaxBack - you can grab a copy from this URL here (http://www.faxback.com/msfaxplugin/index.aspx) . I run it with a seperate IP extension for my fax, so that I can send and receive. It is merely a matter of grabbing the document and hitting the print button, send it to the fax, enter the greeting, telephone number and either schedule the fax or send now and done ! Or just wait to receive faxes with the faxback application from PSTN / ISDN or VoIP as needed.
It is how ever dependant on the fax machine for VoIP calls.
But any way... enjoy your system ...

Kevin

Thanks Kevin and Ashot,
I appreciate your suggestion Kevin of the scandisk and I was originally looking at it as a solution but like you said not going over the 16Gb limit would be a problem, I need to keep recordings for about a year as an auditing ability on the company phone calls
I've taken the system one step further and setup a FTP server to catch the wav files being forwarded to it from the Quadro, I know it’s over kill but we had a situation where we finished with a disagreement over a client phone call and not having a fall back lost the client.
Will have a look at FaxBack but we setup fax duet with the carrier, setup distinctive ring on the phone line and using a real fax machine.
Now my next step is scripting, so I off to the playground, does anyone have any suggestions on starters please?
Thanks in advance,
Greg.

Ahhh the plot thickens, Scripting you say .. XML style ?
I can definitely help you there and even provide other alternatives that will allow you to explore the realms of the Quadro world.
I see an email has already entered my mail box so i will keep the communication going by that means ...
Talk soon,
Regards
Kevin
