I have acquired a Quadro 2x.
I have created a technical support login (here).
I also have access to the account of the original owner both here and Epygi's SIP Server.
The orginal owner never actually registered on the SIP server.
I have downloaded and printed all three Quadro Manuals: Install, Admin, Extension.
The install manual tells me I need to register the "extension" on Epygi's SIP Server.
When I log in to Epygi's SIP Server, it shows I can only register 1 extension. It tells me this on the 'Add Extension' web page.

Where I am confused is I plan to have my Quadro programmed with several lines on a single SIP trunk, and I plan to have three physical SIP phones/extensions. But the Epygi SIP server says I can only register a single extension.

Am I missing something here? Obviously I am a newbie to IP PBX systems but I figure I can set this all up since I have the manuals to guide me. I am just getting thrown off by the SIP registration, I guess.

Anybody got any information to help me better understand this initial extension setup? I have read both the install and admin manual several times and still find myself confused about this. The admin manual says that in order to add IP Lines/Extensions on the Quadro, the extension must first be set up in the SIP Server. But if I can only add one extension in the SIP Server, how can I ever set up more than one extension on the actual Quadro? I have only to assume that the SIP provider, whoever that may end up being, will provide the actual SIP extension information for each of the lines I plan to use?

All help would be greatly appreciated.

Update: I have learned something new.

When logged into Epygi SIP Server using MY user name: only one extension can be added. Most likely because no Epygi device is actually registered to me.

When logged into Epygi SIP server using original owner's name, up to 10 extensions can be registered. This makes sense since the 2x supports up to 10 extensions without a feature key installed.

I feel I am making progress. I am still slightly confused though. Do I have to register all extensions with Epygi's SIP Server even if I may not use Epygi as my SIP provider? Perhaps someone can explain to me why the extensions must be registered with Epygi before they can be added in the Quadro Web Interface.

Look forward to some positive insight into this registration process.....

No you DO not need to register the extensions with the Epygi Sip Server... it is there so you can make test calls / real calls with other Registered Sip extensions...

The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is a signaling protocol, widely used for controlling multimedia communication sessions such as voice and video calls over Internet Protocol (IP). The protocol can be used for creating, modifying and terminating two-party (unicast) or multiparty (multicast) sessions consisting of one or several media streams. The modification can involve changing addresses or ports, inviting more participants, adding or deleting media streams, etc.. Other feasible application examples include video conferencing, streaming multimedia distribution, instant messaging, presence information and online games.
