Newby user here... first post... hope this get to someone...
My first install... Quadro 4x... hope this isn't a stupid question.
Started with user wanting 4 exts connected to 4 lines - no problem... put in a quadro 4x, then they wanted more lines & extensions...
Added 6 line fxo attached/shared & now have 12 Aastra 35i/9480 phone exts... working fine for 10 lines connected to IP lines... I need 8 lines reserved for 8 extensions (no problem with this) but I need the remaining 4 extensions to have free access to the remaining 2 lines. Can't see how to configure this anywhere.
I think Call hunting will work for incoming to the 4 phones but how about for outgoing...
Set the Hot desk feature but customer doesn't want to have to log on /off all the time... someone will forget & tie up the line.
Summary = 10 lines, 12 users/extensions (8 must have access all the time to dedicated line-not a problem with this)
desired = remaining 4 extensions to share 2 remaining lines - when 2 lines are busy & third or fourth ext try to dial out - line would ring busy
Connection is 10 pstn lines to FXO's - assigned 10 IP lines - if that matters...
Can anyone tell me what I am missing?
For example - the above could also be for 6 or more users sharing a quadro 4x...
Thanks

Hello ! And welcome to the forum :)
This is pretty easy to configure - you need to do that in Call Routing Table. Create rule to dial through those 2 remaining lines and edit the "Source Filter" to allow only those 4 extensions to dial out using them. Overall your routing table should look the following way:
1. 8 rules to dial through lines 1-8. On each rule in the "Source Filter" you need to have just one extension - the one this line is dedicated to.
2. 1 rule to dial through lines 9-10. On that rule in the "Source Filter" put the remaining 4 extensions (PBX->{xx,yy,zz,kk}, where xx,yy,zz and kk are the extension numbers).
Best regards,
David

David,
Thanks for the response - I have been incredibly busy but did try out your suggestions...
Worked great! Thanks again...
One thing happenning though if you can help... the defined extensions will use a line from somewhere when the defined one(s) are in use... ie below is a sample of one line dedicated to four extensions, yet all extensions can still make simultaneous calls, therefore robbing what is supposed to be a dedicated line for another user. Hasn't been an issue yet but will be when all dedicated lines/extensions are occupied in the call centre.
Ideally we will have a group of 4 extensions is assigned to three lines (PSTN), one from the 4X & one from the connected FXO/6 line sharing device as follows:
These are the settings in the Routing table with the fields defined by the "-" and starting at "State":
-Enabled
-*
-
-FXO
port(s): FXO1
FXO1@172.30.0.239:5060
-None
-No
-{15,17,18,24}
- PBX
-
-10
- OfficeFXOa1b1
I think it might have something to do with a default route setting 9?* set to any FXO line(FXO port(s): Any Port)...
Any suggestions would help.
Regards, Cal.

You are completely right - this defalut rule enables any user to dial through any PSTN line of the PBX :), so you would need to remove that rule in this configuration! You cannot just delete that rule from the table. To remove it, go to "System Configuration Wizard", and pass it, ussing empty selection in the "PSTN Access Code" box of the "Emergency Codes and PSTN Access Code Settings" page of the wizard.

Thanks for your help on the previous msg's... I have two more questions about this config...
I posted a msg one other time but can't find instructions on how to post a new one, so I'll try sending this to you... Please help. ( I have searched on how to post a new msg & can't find answers or how I did it last time??? tried private mail but no answer from "admin")
1) the last instruction on bypassing the pbx works if the user does not enter "9" before dialing, but if they do enter "9" + the phone #, they jump on the pbx & steal a line from another user... is there any way of stopping this from happening?
2) I am trying to get a 2nd FXO gateway onto a (Quadro 4X/4 FXO + 6FXO) + a 2nd 6FXO total of 16 fxo lines... customer started with 4 lines, grew to 10, & now needs 12 & still growing... can't get the 2nd FXO gateway registered...
We questioned/verified before the sale of adding a 2nd FXO to make sure this was possible & got the thumbs up.
The first one connected & registered the lines ok, but the 2nd one will not register.
There are no instructions on how to add a second one.
Can you help or give us a hint?
We matched the pw of the IPpbx (same on all 3 devices now) it has been given an IP address from the DHCP server (the IPpbx) & I have followed the instructions just like the 1st one which connected successfully... Won't add in the 4X settings - says the password is the same and already in use - that would be the first shared 6FXO device.
We thought that maybe the LAN side IP of the FXO which is 172.28.0.1 might cause the problem as it is the same on both FXO's, so I manually changed the 2nd FXO to 172.28.0.2, still not registering the lines on the 4X.
Any help appreciated. No "Book" instructions for this one that I can find.
regards, Cal.

Found the thread tool bar to post a new one - so I sent question 2) above in a new thread...
Any help on the line selection in note 1) above issue is welcome...
re-cap
- Customer has 8 x outgoing only lines that must be dedicated (only 6 work now due to 2nd gateway not registering....) - & should not select from pbx
Plus 4 x in+out lines (one incoming phone # with roll over) will be for the office that have ring incoming at same time (can't take lines from other 8 so no pbx either.??)
If dialing just phone # all is ok, but if they dial 9+phone # = trouble...
thanks.
