I have a customer that has chosen to Nest Virtual Extensions within Virtual Extensions in the following scenarios.

Please tell me : 1 It is ok to do or 2 It should not be done

Virtual of 600 - in the sup tables - type - hunt - members Ext 111 (IP Phone) and 601 - (virtual ext - type MER with several IP Phones - no answer timer of 20 seconds to voicemail) - timing settings 15 seconds for 111 and 20 seconds for 601 - no answer forwarding of 40 seconds to a voicemail 2 email notification.

I understand that this can be programmed, but my concerns are the individual Virtual ext Groups timing would come into play as well as other factors - call forwarding / voicemails etc etc....

Am I wrong in thinking that or is this the correct way to program the groups and it is by design that you can nest groups ?

This particular customer has requested assistance... I am wanting to alter the call flow dramatically to suit standard prgramming call flow that I would normally design.

The above is relatively a small snippit of the programming... To give you an idea of what has been performed.

Please defuse my thoughts and concerns on the groups as outlined above.

Regards

Kevin

Hi Kev

sorry for long delay - I was out of the forum... too many tasks to be done..

Redarding to nesting Virtual extension - yes, they are designed to be nested, so you can do as many nestings as you want, provided that you clearly understand how this will work...

In the scenario above there is one point, which will not work out (it is highlighted in red below):

**************************
Virtual of 600 - in the sup tables - type - hunt - members Ext 111 (IP Phone) and 601 - (virtual ext - type MER with several IP Phones - no answer timer of 20 seconds to voicemail) - timing settings 15 seconds for 111 and 20 seconds for 601 - no answer forwarding of 40 seconds to a voicemail 2 email notification.

Some theory - in the Quadro the "call hunting" is designed the way that no service (not even voicemail) will work on the target extensions of the hunt group, except of "many ext ringing". So the voicemail of the target extensions (111 and 601) will not be activated at all. Only the VM of hunt-owner ext ention (the ext 600) will be activated.

Actually the scheme you are describing, has a logical flaw... Even if the design of the "call hunting" were different, in case if nobody answers only one VM box could be activated... So no need to set up two boxes for VM...

Best regards,
David
