Just wondering what people think. I've an office at the end of the garden with a LAN connection, but my DECT phone doesn't work there. Rather than try to run cables, I wondered is there a way of using a VOIP solution so that I can use existing phones and BT line. I'm guessing that 2 VOIP adaptors would be necessary. Any ideas.

The LAN cable will support splitting which means that it can allow 2 x devices to work.

You can, use a LAN device and either another LAN device or a telephone using that same cable.

Normally a 10/100 Ethernet cable needs only a send and receive pair (4 wires) the standard Cat5e ethernet cable is 8 wires which allows you to use a splitter at either end of the cable and have 2 x devices hanging off it.

So if you have a DECT phone and need a 10/100 LAN connection use a splitter - see picture ...

Actually no I never click anyones link just because it is there, I hover over it and see where it will take me though and saw that it was just as I thought...

But I figured that if someone else is needing this, then answering in a constructive way would assist...
