Can anyone tell us how to increase the volume of voicemails that are left on our Quadro 2X?The Quadro e-mails the voicemails and they are of incredibly low volume. Even with our PC speakers on max, we struggle to make out the message.

There is no special control on the Quadro to increase the VM volume. In the VMs sent by e-mail the original volume is kept.

Do you get such VMs from FXO ports, from ITSP, from analog phones connected to Quadro, or from IP Phones?

Do calls from different sources have the same level of volume?

Same for me. We only use ITSP trunks. Voicemail retrieved on the phone is fine, emailed voicemail is uselessly quiet.

Is anyone getting emails with attached voicemail that canbe heard?

You can go to Telephony -> Gain Control on Quadro GUI and change the voice mail gain settings to increase the volume.

Actually, we had several customers with the same problem, but only Voice Mails received from PSTN side were affected. That was not a Quadro, but PSTN side problem and that was solved by increasing FXO gains on Quadro. Let us know if playing with gains will solve the problem.

Thanks. I am a bit reluctant to globally change the voicemail gain as I'm unsure if that will adversely affect listening to vm from the phone (i.e. will it be too loud?). I only have production Quadros here so "playing" with the settings is not such a great option.

Does anyone know for sure what the voicemail gain actually affects?

Do I change both the transmit *and* receive gain?

I will try and do some more testing before people start tomorrow.

First of all, I want to mention that the Voicemail Gain adjustment is a new feature first introduced in 4.1.33. I didn't make too much experiments with that, but can state the following:

1. The "Transmit Gain" (renamed to "Recording Gain" in newer versions) is used to adjust the volume during recording. So if you increase that, the recorded VM file will sound louder, when played by Quadro or by any program on PC.

2. The "Receive Gain" (renamed to "Playback Gain" in newer versions) is used to adjust the volume of playback when it is done by Quadro.

So I guess, if you increase the "Recording Gain" and decrease the "Playback Gain" by the same value, the VM should be louder when played from PC, but have the same volume as before the cahnge, when played by Quadro.

Thats a theory :) You are welcome to check that. If something works differently, that should be a bug.Edited by: davrays

As it is new implemented feature, we have some problems there :)Actually Voicemail Gain works correct on Quadro4x/16x, but have some bugs in Quadro2x. The problems are that the "Receive Gain" isn't workon Quadro2x atall and "Transmit Gain" has wrongcalculation on some values. That problems are already fixed and hopefully will be included in upcoming GA release.

Hmm.. After some experiments with this feature I would suggest to not try this now: currently this gains apply to all recordings and playback, including system voice prompts etc. This is not what you need actually. So for now we have no good way to increase specifically the volume of vmails sent by email.
